The Russian Kettlebell Challenge – DVD SE

August 2, 2009 by Seth

The overall experience of using the Russian Kettlebell Challenge ought to be well worth the money.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to build a rock hard physique and with the strength of a gorilla.

What Can This Product Do For Me?

“The Russian Kettlebell Challenge” starts out by covering the proper way to execute the kettlebell exercises for maximum results and proper safety. Then it quickly jumps into instructions regarding strength building exercises, muscle toning, and even includes a very good cardio workout.

So what Pavel actually does is creates a well rounded approach which covers a few different types of training…

For Power lifters

Ever hit that spot in your dead lift or your bench press where you just get stuck?

Kettlebells is the ultimate solution to break that plateau.

Working with kettlebells is the most efficient way to zero in one those difficult ranges of motion which weaken your heavier lifts.

Believe me, even the most experienced power-lifters are likely to FEEL those neglected spots the day after!

What you’ll find is that those ‘wrinkles’ within your power lifts will get ironed out as a result of working with kettlebells.

The difference for some people could mean as much as 20-40lbs (or more) added to your bench press or dead lift.

For Athletes, Professional Fighters and Law Enforcement

For those of you who are athletes or fighters or who are in law enforcement, you have to make sure that the results are going to be useful to you in a real life setting. You want something that incorporates agility and strength training into one neat little package.

The freedom of motion involved in kettlebell training really gives the body a chance to develop more naturally. Unlike the use of traditional weights, you build strength that has the versatility to give you an edge in real life situations.

Also, the cardio workout has a great combination of strength and stamina training that can maximize your workout time.

Not to mention that the trainer has an entire career full of experience in training the military and US elite forces. If you are a martial artist, a wrestler or are in any kind of contact sport like football or rugby, Pavel is the guy to listen to.

For Ladies

Ok for the ladies who might be reading this and thinking that you don’t really care about bench pressing Buicks or lifting your man up over your head (unless that’s your thing). The Russian Kettlebell Challenge is a great way to also build lean muscle tone for a sexy bikini body.

The Russian Kettlebell Challenge does is provide you with a versatile knowledge of strength training that can be applied for light muscle gain. This will turn your body into a fat burning machine!

Not a bad deal right? Not to mention that lean muscle tone looks really sexy on a woman. Just make sure that you purchase the smaller sets of kettlebells for more repetitions (or you may end up with arms like Hulk Hogan (not sexy)).

… and, ladies, just so you know, kettlebells are quickly becoming the top secret of elite supermodels around the globe!

So Who is Pavel Tsatsouline?

Pavel is actually a former Soviet Special Forces instructor and has moved on to working with the elite units of the United States Military and law enforcement. This ought to assure you of his extraordinary abilities.

These people who he is working with trust him to deliver a training program with rapid and powerful results. You see,  for you and I, kettlebell training might be just about looking nice in our bathing suit.  However, for many of Pavel’s students, they’re training  to be in better condition than their enemies or they risk being taken out by them.

Needless to say, if you take his advice and do these exercises the right way, the benefits are second to none and you will be in a class of fitness above everyone else.

What Could Have Been Better

Being an overachiever, I personally feel that something which had a step by step routine to follow would be more ideal (personal preference).

That being said, the Russian Kettlebell Challenge is probably more than enough for the average person (and will definitely give even an experienced athlete a run for their money!)

Pavel also has ‘Enter the Kettlbell’ and ‘The Extreme Kettlebell Cardio Workout’ which would make for perfect additions to the ‘set.’

My favorite thing about this program is that it provides you will a full body workout for toning, building strength and for getting the heart and lungs in shape.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with the Russian Kettlebell Challenge.  It truly is a great product!

How Much is the Kettlebell DVD?

The price is $39.99 which in my opinion is a no brainer given the high level of instruction and training.

Not to mention the 100% money back guarantee if you are not satisfied.

My advice.  Give it a shot.  You won’t be disappointed.

I purchased the Russian Kettlebell Challenge DVD along with a 16kg kettlebell 6 months ago. Having watched the DVD many times to study and learn the techniques Pavel demonstrates, the results I have obtained since are better than I hoped for. I am over 30 pounds lighter and leaner, am stronger, fitter and feel so much better, all from simple to follow program guidelines that allow practice to be tailored to the individual and fun to do. I confidently expect more and greater gains in the future and recommend this product to anyone serious about beginning a strength or conditioning program with kettlebells. Thank you Pavel!

Kettlebell training literally changed the way i think about training. Pavel presents the information in a way that is easily understood and applied.

This DVD is absolutely incredible. The kettlebell training has opened all new in roads to fast muscle strength. Amazing gains in strength and endurance in my first week. I never knew… Theres a lot of good stuff out there and I’ve tried most of it, but this is the most exciting program I’ve ever done. Worth every penny.

  5. Former Paratrooper says:

Back in August 1990, on board a C5 Galaxy full of paratroopers bound for the Middle East, I read a book that would eventually lead me to Pavel Tsatsouline, Power To The People and RKC. The book was: SPETSNAZ by Viktor Suvorov. This book allowed me to consider the possibility that the Soviet political soldier was far superior, in many ways, to the American infantry man. In 1998, while researching Russian Martial Arts, I came across DragonDoor and Pavel’s PTP. A year later I purchased the VHS RKC and my first KB 36lb pod. Fast forward to 2009 – For my 41st birth day this past July, I bought myself the RKC DVD and have just ordered a 53lb pod. Pavel and his RKC have literally changed my life. There is not one person I meet today who does not tell me that I look way younger than 41. My average KB workout begins with 3 sets of 5 minute swings, snatches and presses with 1 minute rest period between sets. That’s just for starters. After working out I feel incredible! Like a New Man. As far as I am concerned Pavel and his philosophy are a testimony to the superiority of the Soviet State sanctioned physical fitness programs behind the Iron Curtain and the production of the elite political soldier.

This video is direct and to the point. There’s not any “fluff”,or distracting dialog. The demonstrations are clear and contain the enough info to coach a newcomer through the rough spots.
I especially appreciate the lack of cute, witty remarks. I sometimes wonder if the presenters realize that their jokes, however funny they may seem during production, wear a little thin by the 6 or 7 viewing.

This DVD is tad expensive. Pavel is a “Character”, however the routines will give your body a complete workout. I’d buy other products from Pavel.

  9. David says:

The first time I watched, I just followed along with each type of exercise and was worn out after 25 minutes. I can feel the difference after a week!

  10. Paul Langelier says:

What can I say? Kettle Bells are the only way. Not only do you get hard core strength, minimum time obligations for busy people, and the ease of not having to communte, but you get an unspoken way to revitalize you life by retraining you life. This DVD by Pavel shows you what you need to know to change your life by beginning a new one. If you’re looking for a workout and not all the hype associated with gym memberships, buy this dvd and a set of kettle bells. You won’t be dissatisfied.

  11. Ernst says:

This video is unlike any other. Other companies try to immitate but don’t even come close to the quality exercises that are in Pavel’s video.

  12. Dave says:

I had brought the book, but just wasn’t sure of the actual movements in each exercise, once I got the DVD’s and could watch the movements, it was huge! I hurt my back in 2002 as a Reserve Police Officer, herniated a disc to the right and left, I honestly hurt everyday, gained a lot of weight. Since working out with the Kettlebells and watching the dvd’s, it has been awesome, the back pain is going, I feel better and the weight is coming off. Thanks Pavel, you changed my life!

  13. Michael Hoffman says:

This video struck me as a good follow up to Enter the Kettlebell. Pavel still hits the basics in this one, but without as much detail. I recommend it more for expanding your exercises, not beginning.

As a whole, I thoroughly enjoyed the video and got a lot from it. Pavel doesn’t mess around, no fanfare, just instructions.

  14. Patrick Fortune says:

I thought this was a great intro video to simply show the actual techniques used to exercise with the kettlebell. It also does a good job of telling what not to do. However, as a workout video, it leaves a lot to be deired. I found “The Extreme Kettlebell Cardio Workout” to be a lot more effective and desirous to work out with. That one’s actually like having a workout partner right in your home with you. Whereas the “Extreme Fitness” video merely shows technique; it does nothing to show how to put together a routine, what order to do exercises in, how to group them (legs & abs, upper body, etc.).

As Law Enforcement, I can tell you that if you are not in shape for a fight or have the toughness (physically and mentally) to keep fighting after being stabbed or shot by a suspect, one day you are going to die. I have been working with my kettlebells for a week now following along with the DVD and getting an awesome workout everytime. Pavel’s directions are easy to follow and very detailed. HIS ATTENTION TO DETAIL WILL SAVE YOU FROM INJURY………..IF YOU LISTEN ! ! ! ! These are awesome full body workouts that will put you in fighting trim building BOTH strength and endurance. Thanks to you Pavel and the people at Dragon Door for bringing a fantastic OLD SCHOOL tool back to the forefront of REAL fitness here in the U.S.

  16. Jim says:

The DVD is very good in showing several exercises with the kettlebells, but it doesn’t give you a set workout to perform. It’s like someone showing you a squat, a bench press, and curls and telling you to go workout. The filming quality is very good. The price is about $10 more than it should be.

  17. Jeff Strong says:

Great. I am a beginner and put it on while learning the moves. It’s clear and encouraging.

  18. Ben T. says:

I bought this DVD for myself and a friend to round-out the primer that is the excellent “Enter the Kettlebell” video and book. This DVD provides examples and extensions of the base activities, such as describing three different types of presses (military, side, and push). It also provides excellent enhanced exercises, including Windmills and the all-encompassing, mind-blowing “2 Hands Anyhow.” Highly recommended for someone who has the fundamentals down and is looking to expand and vary their program.

  19. George D says:

This is a great video which shows you step by step the exercises that are listed in the book. I will say that if you ONLY have this DVD then you may feel like you are missing a cohesive plan to follow which is better outlined in the book. But this is classic Pavel as far as his demonstrations and explainations and a couple of options thrown in for good effect. This one will be keeping me busy for a while.

  20. Bill says:

High quality filming and great attention to the details of doing the work. The menu page is a bit confusing in its presentation, and not broken into enough categories, but all of the information is there and can be found. In any given section, it is easy to see how you’re supposed to do it.

I’d give this one a 10 based on the content, but the braindead packaging of the video drops it to a 5. Everyone has Real, Windows Media, and QuickTime players. The last thing anyone needs is a proprietary player to install to play a video, and packaging it this way means you can’t play it on a regular DVD player at all. I wanted to watch the instruction on a big screen, not on my computer monitor. Oh well.

It’s also kinda cheesy to have the drop-down rating scale stuck on 10. I’m using Firefox; maybe it works ok from IE, but if that is the problem it is another case of bad packaging.

Put the DVD in and prepare to become a beast. Mr. Tstatsouline motivates and inspires you and the Kettlebell’s dominate and transform you. Listen to everything he says, do everything he says, and become everything he says. Welcome to the brotherhood of hard living comrades!!

I purchased all of your DVDs…they are fantastic…Pavel is a superb instructor…you will be receiving many orders from the South Texas area as I am demonstrating Kettlebells to everyone that comes to my clinic…I can’t believe I didn’t know about this sooner…I bounce out of bed in the morning…strech out the bunn burn and start swings…haven’t even had a twinge in my back or shoulders and I have two disks, half a vertebra and a radidal head resection that prevents full extension of my left wing ( all courtesy sovieners of WW Vietnam)…I’m 60 and I wish Pavel had been around 40 years ago.

  23. Joe Randolph says:

I found the dvd to be exctly what I thought it would be. I had never used a kettlebell before and I want a clear cut, precise demonstation of the movements using proper techinque. I want to get stronger and avoid injury. The dvd should help me in both these areas.

If you don’t have an expert in using the kettlebell running tame through your house, this is the next best thing to have. First get a kettlebell, then before trying anything, watch the video. Pay attention to the correct form that Pavel demonstrates. Then go try the first exercise. Watch again, and try the second one. And so on. Good product.

  28. oibrownskin says:

This video/DVD changed my whole outlook on the strength AND cardiovascular fitness game. The drills presented in this DVD and Book are straight forward, well explained, and simple to do. I have felt my energy level go up, and my fat literally melt away from my bones. This is a must have for anyone that is sick and tired of the typical fitness routine they have been presented with by a “personal trainer”. The Kettlebell is an old-school tool used to give you “real-world” strength. Functional Strength.

Thanks to everyone at DD.com and Thank you to Pavel, Keep the hits coming.
